Mirrorless Camera?

[Sony A-series, Canon R-series, Nikon Z-series]

Great, you can do this course!

Not on Mirrorless yet?

You can absolutely take this course, but your camera and lens weren’t built for video life, so you might have limitations in focus, exposure, and the level of slow-mo that you can actually get to.

What is a Bootcamp?

Since Studio Bootcamp first ran, all our Bootcamps follow the exact same format.

Essentially, a Bootcamp is a part-live, part-prerecorded online course where you get teleported into a secret community area of our Members Vault. In here, you can mix and mingle with others taking the course, consuming the lessons at the exact same time.

It boosts learning because you can literally learn from others!

Our Bootcamps have two types of student spaces depending on what you want to learn, when, and how. These student types are ‘Working Students’ and ‘Auditors’.

Working Student

Fully immersed, this learning type gives maximum gains but is limited in number. Every Working Student gets the following:

All Pre-Recorded Lessons

Your questions answered on Live Support Sessions

Learn from student questions on Support Sessions

Playback all Support Sessions

Direct Feedback on Own Videos

Learn from others Feedback

Spaces = 50

Auditor

Like an observant fly on the wall, this learning type is perfect for those who don’t have time to jump in, but want to be involved. Every auditor gets:

All Pre-Recorded Lessons

Your questions answered on Live Support Sessions

Learn from student questions on Support Sessions

Playback all Support Sessions

Direct Feedback on Own Videos

Learn from others Feedback

Spaces = Unlimited

Why not

Dive Deeper…

Your Title Goes Here
Section 1: Theory

This section contains the absolute core theory that you need to know, and understand, to create technically sound, super clean, iconic slow motion video on your own camera. We go through the following lessons:

  • Kit
  • Frame Rates
  • Shutter Speeds
  • File Formats
  • Colour & Gamuts
  • Filters
  • Reliable autofocus
  • Setting up your camera for video
  • Bootcamp Only LIVE Support Session – to troubleshoot any and all of the above!
Section 2: Shooting

We head out to complete four very different briefs, each ticking off a useful case of video for photographers. Each serves its own purpose, but all are useful for creatives, businesses and clients alike. They are:

  • Photo to Video: How to capture a photo and an immediate video version, perfect for simple social media posts/short form content
  • Client Promo: Whether you shoot sports or private clients, shooting a story in video format for one client and turning it into an engaging video is what this section is all about.
  • Website Background: Row backgrounds with video are amazing for capturing attention and holding engagement – used sparingly, they can improve conversion rates on websites.
  • High Impact SFC: A very simple type of reel (or TikTok etc), using a simple single subject in a single scene, shot well, to deliver engagement.

Of course, in this section too, there is an additional bonus:

  • Bootcamp Only LIVE Support Session – to troubleshoot any and all of the above!
Section 3: Editing

Editing video is very different to editing photos.

Processing video properly involves conversions, grading and export workflows that are fundamentally different to photography. Also, it’s a whole new software to learn, so there’s a lot in this section. Let’s look at what is in this section:

  • Transfering & Storage
  • Navigating the Software (it’s free, don’t worry!)
  • Bringing in clips
  • Colour grading
  • Cutting basics
  • Exporting
  • Workflow examples for all 4 shooting types
  • Compression options to shrink file sizes

Of course, in this section too, there is an additional bonus:

  • Bootcamp Only LIVE Support Session – to troubleshoot any and all of the above!
Feedback on your work

Feedback is the very best way to quickly improve your output. By having someone else pinpoint exactly what to improve, change or focus on next time you shoot, you’ll be able to level up your work with ease.

Feedback is a Bootcamp-only resource for Working Students, so make sure you act fast to grab a space!

If you pass the above terms then there are no course pre-checks, no delays and no approvals, everything is on your terms. To sign up, you just need to add the access to your basket and checkout.

Access Duration

The access duration for this course is set at 12 months.
Why? Read on…

Access to the lessons is set by default and by design – there is current scientific research displaying a strong correlation between learning deadlines and completion, retention and mastery. Self-management is crucial and even with a busy life or a time-pressured day job, if you prepare for our online courses, you’ll have enough time to complete the sessions plus practical assignments too.

We would recommend taking your time to work through the lessons and practise each topic before moving on but also to schedule learning time in your diary to ensure you remain committed to working through your enrolled content.

We know this is a hotly debated topic in the online learning world, but for Jess as a science nerd, following the data is vital. So far a grand total of 0.3% of our total student enrolments have got stuck on the access length. We’re here to help though, so read on…

If at the end of the default access length, you feel that you need more time, just send us an email and we’ll sort that out as soon as possible – there is no charge for extending however extensions are for 3 months only and can only be applied once.

That being said, you can get lifetime access connected to an MTog membership if you need additional time. If you are an MTog already, you can request to have course access extended at any time, for any reason (you don’t need to tell us). Simply send an email to [email protected] to get the process moving. We’ll action it as fast as possible!

…about this online course:

Your content goes here. Edit or remove this text inline or in the module Content settings. You can also style every aspect of this content in the module Design settings and even apply custom CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

I don't have a mirrorless camera. Can I still join in?

Of course you can, but you must be aware of your equipment’s limitations beforehand. DSLRs can shoot video (most of them can, anyway!), but they lack high frame rates that produce slow motion, and they also struggle with autofocus due to how the system works with lenses.

If you’re planning on upgrading sometime soon, or you’re ok following along and perhaps missing some bits, then come on in!

I forgot to add a discount code. Can I apply it afterwards?

Unfortunately not, as the checkout process is a closed loop that we can’t amend before, during, or after your journey through it.

Please ensure you have your code(s) ready to use and make sure they’re showing at the checkout stage before you press go!

How long do I get access for and can I extend this?

Access to the lessons is set at a specific length of 12 months by default. We would recommend taking your time to work through the lessons and practice each topic before moving on, but schedule time into your week to complete the content.

Extensions are not permitted for this course as standard, but you can get lifetime access connected to an MTog membership if you need additional time.

How is the content delivered? Can I download the videos?

The lessons are delivered as videos that are viewable on any device. All video content is in Ultra HD 4k format, hosted securely away from our website for page speed reasons. The average file size of a lesson on this website is around 5GB and therefore downloading video content is not an option.

Some lessons have supporting downloads which are marked clearly with a large button, as well as a brief description of what you are downloading. These downloads are as small as we can make them. Please be patient; they will transfer!

Can I access the lessons in any order?

The first time you work through the course, you will need to follow the order provided. This is because the resources were created to be delivered in that order, and future lessons will refer to things in previous lessons.

After you have completed a lesson once, you can go back to it at any time, in any order.

Do I have to sign up within a specific time frame?

Not specifically. If you want to take part in our part-live, part-recorded Bootcamp, you’ll need to enrol in the enrollment window and join the secret space before we start. When Bootcamp starts, there is no access option available until the general release of the recorded lessons only.

Only Bootcampers have access to support session recordings and feedback reviews. But it’s up to you if you want those resources or not!

I need more help. How do I speak to a person?

We’ve got you. Team Tog is on hand to help with queries and any issues.
