It’s July which means that 2022 is throttling past like there’s no tomorrow. It also means that it is CHALLENGE REVIEW TIME! Let’s go allocate those Pins (if you’re lost, check this page here) and announce the next month’s challenge. Let’s get started…

The June challenge was Warmth. It’s a firm favourite and always has loads of entries every year and this time was no exception! I asked you to submit photographs that exude warmth – it doesn’t need to be golden hour, warmth can mean many things to many people, from hot coco and safety, to volcanos and drought. Legit.

The video for this months review is here:

Anyone with an image in either the shortlist or the short-shortlist or just the entries, in general, should be very, very proud!

That being said, there can only be one winner. Therefore, the winners of the pins this month are:

(If you don’t know what Pins are, please check out the section on pins here.)

But what is the July challenge? This month’s challenge is:

The “Edit Arthur” Challenge.

The aim of this month’s challenge is to edit and submit one photograph of Arthur the Italian Greyhound. Arthurs RAW files have been packaged helpfully into a Google Drive folder for you to go download and edit right now! (Scroll for the rules!)

Arthur’s full photoshoot and all of the retouching I did for the session was recorded and popped into the Premium Membership. Please note, I’m not looking for a clone of what I did!

For reference, screenshots of the RAW files are below, each is labeled either A, B or C. You can select any image to enter, but I’d recommend editing all of them first and then decide which to enter afterwards. There are little traps in each one ????

How to enter:

  • Download the RAW files from the button above
  • Edit one, two or all three of the images of Arthur
  • Select ONE image to enter into the challenge
  • Add “Edit Arthur” in the caption along with the hashtag #ThatTogSpotChallenge
  • You MUST make it clear that you did not take the photograph
  • Post your piece to Instagram and tag @thattogspot in the image
  • (optional) Share the post to your story (bonus points for adding a before and after) and tag @thattogspot and #ThatTogSpotChallenge in the story
  • Entries close at midnight (UK time) on the last day of July

The RAW files are protected by international copyright. Do not use them in your portfolio or for your own business purposes.

Judging:

The image will be judged on all the normal things (focus, composition, clipped highlights or shadows, focus, exposure, editing quality (not quantity!), and white balance) in line with Print comps

As always, no purchased/downloaded assets are allowed – these include overlays, composite elements and brushes.

The judging will take place at the start of August and the judge’s decision is final.

Good luck!
